DYNOMAX® DEBUTS TWO RARE PROJECT VEHICLES AT THE 2013 SEMA SHOW

DynoMax Products Included on ‘9-MIL the ’67 Nova,’ ‘Maximus the ’68 Charger,’ Displayed in the Brand’s SEMA Show Booth

Las Vegas, Nov. 5, 2013 – The DynoMax Performance Exhaust brand continues to push extremes (and horsepower) in its SEMA Show Booth (Central Hall, No. 25131). This year’s display includes the Chris Holstrom Concepts’ 1967 Chevrolet Nova that houses more-than-stock Corvette power, plus Nelson Racing Engines’ 1968 Dodge Charger, dubbed “Maximus,” thanks to its 2,000-plus horsepower engine and completely custom fabricated build.

“We weren’t just looking to ‘raise the bar,’ we wanted a pair of muscle cars that were true to the power of DynoMax products and built to the exacting standards of two of the finest hot rod building and fabrication teams in North America,” said Chris Gauss, sales and marketing manager, performance brands, Tenneco.

Holstroms’ 1967 Chevy Nova – a sleeper supercar named “9-MIL” wrapped in a classic Chevy design – has a true Corvette core, a powerful LS9 crate motor, and an entire envelope of custom components chosen for horsepower and performance. Originally a rust-free California car, the Chris Holstrom team fabricated a completely new look and feel.

“We wanted to enhance the Nova’s clean and classic platform without taking away from the original GM design,” said Chris Holstrom, Chris Holstrom Concepts. The Nova also features a set of DynoMax® Ultra Flo™ welded mufflers, a stainless steel, fully welded design with straight-through internal piping to ensure unrestricted exhaust flow and reduced backpressure.

DynoMax products also were used on Maximus, the 1968 Charger built by Nelson Racing Engines (NRE), Chatsworth, Calif. Shown in bare metal, Maximus features a 9.4L Chrysler Hemi engine capable of 2,000 horsepower; a completely custom body that took more than 1,500 hours of metal work to create; several NRE-designed and fabricated components and more. “Maximus is evidence of the capabilities of Nelson Racing Engines,” said Tom Nelson, Nelson Racing Engines. “Transforming sheet metal, chunks of aluminum and parts into a Charger that’s capable of extreme horsepower with new car drivability and running on pump gas? That’s just what we do.”

The team at NRE built a custom exhaust around four stainless steel DynoMax Bullet™ mufflers, a straight-through, high-flow muffler design. Bullet mufflers have a continuous perforated tube to maximize sound absorption and minimize turbulence. Bullet mufflers are made in the United States. The exhaust also includes stainless NRE headers that are fully purged and tig welded, 3.5-in. oval piping and an NRE handmade X-pipe.

Each of these DynoMax SEMA vehicles are outfitted with components from the DynoMax brand’s versatile custom fabrication parts line. Allowing the fabricator to completely customize the fit and flow of the exhaust system, DynoMax custom fabrication parts include stainless steel, mandrel bent piping, accessories and other specialty parts necessary to complete a high-flow, high-performance DynoMax exhaust.

DynoMax Ultra Flo welded mufflers are covered by an exclusive 90-day Performance and Sound Guarantee. Additional details and restrictions apply and can be found at www.DynoMax.com.
